Good Friday Reality Check

I think that the images at the left represent the different ways that people see the scourging of Jesus on that first Good Friday when He suffered at the hands of the religious and political leaders of His time.

In truth the image on the far left is the one that I want to cling to - the one of a super-human man who endured a beating and walked triumphantly to death.

The other image just breaks my heart. It haunts me. It challenges me. It confronts me with a reality that I don't like.

I pray that this will cause you to ponder the reality of Jesus' sacrifice for us.
It is a good thing to do on this Good day.

  1. He is the Lion but was 'led like lamb'. Thank you Jesus!

  2. I appreciate that you've posted both of these images Bob. Even if a photo says more than a thousand words, it always takes more than one to convey all that is Christ.

  3. Powerful ~~ Scripture says marred beyond recognition. Reality breaks my heart too Bob. We will be attending Good Friday Services tonight to once again remind ourselves of this sacrifice that bought our salvation.

  4. Thank you for the comparison pictures. We have to remember the price He paid in human agony as sign of the truly Divine Love that directed it.

Happy Easter to all of you!

  5. Its truly difficult to imagine the pain and suffering Jesus went through for us. I'm afraid we want everything neat and tidy. thanks for the comparison and reminder of what Good Friday really means.

  6. There are two things about this that always amazes me when I think about it.
    1. Jesus could have called it off at any time. (He could have called 10,000 angels)

    2. That God gave his only son. If I had to "give" one of my children to be tortured and killed in order to save the world - well, let's just say it is a good thing that God is God and that I am not.

  8. Thanks, I needed this spiritual boost since I've allowed the world to distract me from this Easter season's great messages. Yours, LTF

  9. Thank you again for the reminder. We too easily forget that Jesus was fully man and suffered just as any of us would have suffered. I am so thankful for his love!
