Interesting 'facts' emailed to me by Johnny's Pizza of all places.
I had no clue that people will eat one to two pounds of the stuff on Thursday. 600 million pounds is a boatload of bird.
Can you imagine having the turkey as out national bird? Sometimes I think the image fits more than the eagle.
This year we are, for the first time ever, going out to eat on Thanksgiving with our adult kids.
What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

he he We eat it at Christmas but I actually prefer chicken... of course the really trad lunch is goose. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving Bob.
ReplyDeleteContrary to the common myth, the amount of Tryptophan in turkey is really not enough to make anyone all that sleepy. The real culprit in "turkey coma" is all the carbs one typically eats in the sides, such as mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, rolls, dressing/stuffing, cranberry sauce, and of course, dessert. If we ate a bit more turkey and a bit less of the starchy stuff, we might even be able to stay awake during the football games! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWow. Reading this again - fives years later. Hard to believe you are no longer with us Mary Ellen. Always loved your input to my blog and your wonderful notes of encouragement. Look forward to seeing you again in heaven.
DeleteI think going out sounds like a nice idea. The restaurant I work at now is closed on Thanksgiving, but at my old place, it was one of the biggest money-making days.
ReplyDeleteGlad you will be able to be with family this Thursday Alice.
DeleteI just bought our Turkey at Costco today!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving......
