“We understand how dangerous a mask can be.
We all become what we pretend to be.” -Patrick Rothfuss
“No man, for any considerable period, can wear one face to himself and another to the multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which may be the true.” -Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter
“We all wear masks, and the time comes when we cannot remove them without removing some of our own skin.” ―Andre Berthiaume
This brings to mind what was one of my favorite songs in my Christian days, Stained Glass Masquerade by Casting Crowns. The lyrics were powerful.
ReplyDeleteSome masks are more seethrough than others.
ReplyDeleteYour true face
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of... face is it?
I wonder
The face under the mask
Is that your true face?-
from The Legend of Zelda- "Majora's Mask" game
Alice gets points for quoting from The Legend of Zelda- "Majora's Mask" :D
ReplyDeleteYAY!
DeleteI'm a huge Zelda nerd...:)
Majora's Mask is the last one I've played, haven't owned any Nintendo consoles since the 64.
DeleteI actually played the 64 Zeldas on the Gamecube & my son would love to have a 64 just to have it. To be honest, those two especially are just simply masterpieces in my opinion. We do have all the newer ones, though and they are great too in their own way, but Ocarina will always be my favorite.
DeleteThose are the only two I've completed, aside from the original on NES. I only played the first one on the SNES briefly.
DeletePure truth. I've often said what a different world it would be if we truly "knew" everything each of us were thinking and what we really thought about everything.
ReplyDeleteGreat comments here! Little did I know that this post would go all Nintendo! ツ
ReplyDeleteYeah! I didn't expect that either! :-)
DeleteSorry about that Bob:)
DeleteFascinating and so true. We all do wear masks at one time or another. The quote about some of our own skin coming off made me stop and think. It's a challenge to take the mask off in difficult situations.
ReplyDeleteA good word for the day.
Love your blog Bob.
Thanks for the comment and the encouragement Sue!
