I am not a big time phone texter - I rarely use text shorthand. Here's a bit of text shorthand. Can you decipher any of them?
BRB, BCNU, DBEYR, FWIW, ISO, JK, MHOTY, RBTL, RTM, TYVM, WYWH
I will post the answer in the comments. Let me know how many you knew.
BRB - be right back
ReplyDeleteBCNU - be seein you
DBEYR - don't believe everything you read
FWIW - for what it's worth
ISO - in search of
JK - just kidding
MHOTY - my hats off to you
RBTL - read between the lines
RTM - read the manual
TYVM - thank you very much
WYWH - wish you were here
LOL. Funny! Yes, I txtspeek. My youngest son will not, though. His are grammatically correct.
ReplyDeleteI am afraid I don't textspeak either. I had never texted and never intended to text until my wonderful daughter bought me one of those fancy phones and chose to pay for the plan which includes unlimited texting. so now if and when I do text it is all the word spelled out all the way.
ReplyDeleteAs a former English teacher, I work exceptionally hard to avoid the use of these "textisms," which only seem to lower the English skills competence of the user.
ReplyDeleteThree more for ya, Bob.
ReplyDeleteTTYL... Talk to you later
BTW.....By the way.
IMHO...In My Humble Opinion.
BTW, (haha) I don't textsqueak, but I occasionally use Instant Messenger to chat with a friend who does. Sometimes it's like learning a foreign language!
Wow, I got zero out of eleven. A perfect score!
