Charity Navigator

Got the list below, and the explanation of it, from Charity Navigator. I think that it is always a good idea to check with a resource like them before you donate to a charity. It is hard to imagine how these CEOs sleep at night but I guess there is a rationalization for about any bad behavior. Of course even the charities that are rated high are rife with six figure salary executives - some make a half million or more.

  1. Ouch. I am going to go ahead and assume that this is the same Hoag Hospital that is about 15 miles from me in a very upscale area (Newport Beach). Its well known for being a good hospital with a very good oncology dept. BUT DANG, that is just wrong. Its disappointing to read these stats but I am glad you share them.

  2. Thank you for reminding me about Charity Navigator. They have very good info about car donation, which is something we may be doing soon with an old truck.

My husband and I have MAJOR heartburn over the execs of charities making hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. I have no problem with these execs making a decent living, but I believe my charity dollars should go to help those in need, not over pad the wallet of someone who has none.
