Ever wonder what it would be like if they made a really great movie about your life or mine? Well if you are like me, and are one of the very few people who have not seen this movie about two ordinary people and their dog, the news is that someone has made that movie.Marley and Me was such a wonderful surprise. It came in the mail a few days ago.. it sat on my Netflix queue forever.. and I begrudgingly popped it into the DVD player last night.. and I was glad that I did!
The movie is all about the ordinary life of John and Jen.. we see their ups and downs.. their stereotypical nuclear family lives and how a Labrador Retriever puppy grows with them.. the movie would be a bit schmaltzy if it was not so engaging. Kids come along, employment decisions happen and their marriage is tested - just normal life stuff presented in an engaging way.
I think that the ordinariness of the movie is what drew me in - I could so relate to this young couple and the life decisions they experienced. The movie a feel-good one.. it will make you laugh and cry. If you haven't seen it I suggest that you do.

I'm not a fan of Owen Wilson or Jennifer Aniston. So, this is one I'll have to pass on.

ReplyDelete@Brian - Don't think of myself as a fan either but I did enjoy the story. I think that it was in a different genre than some of their other movies.

ReplyDeleteLoved it! Loved the tapestry of life created over the course of the story and nurtured throughout to the end. . . and they didn't tear it apart! A primer in the challenges of life, and a voice for perseverance.
