So when it finally arrived last week I wasn't too thrilled about watching it.. I was really surprised when we did. The story was good, the acting was good and the cinematography was excellent. Here is a summary clip from the IMDB site:
In northern Australia at the beginning of World War II, an English aristocrat inherits a cattle station the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn stock-man to drive 2,000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin, Australia, by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier.I liked the main character played by Nicole Kidman.. she was a very strong woman.. an advocate for people being abused.. and seemed to have a clear understanding of justice. Her relationship with a young aboriginal boy named Nullah was a very sweet part of the movie. The movie was an underdog type of flick where the protagonists kept persevering and overcoming all sorts of obstacles. The heart of the movie was a love story but I think that it also had a good delineation of good and evil with a smattering of Australian history mixed in.
On a scale of 10 I give this movie ★★★★★★★★
Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteI just happen to have a good Vietnam Australian Veteran buddy in "Oz" named Bob.
I just saw that great movie a few days ago on Cable TV, and thought it was very good! We agree.
What do you think about the new EU President? Bible Prophecy...
Take care.

Jesus is Lord.
after that review, i'll give it a try. I kinda thought it was like far and away (Tom cruise and Nicole Kidman)
ReplyDeleteDon't really have an opinion on the new EU President Tom.
ReplyDeleteMy wife thought that it was a bit like Far and Away Rygel.. I did not make that connection though.
You know, my wife and I thought it was a horrible movie.
ReplyDeleteThe historical context of the movie was the only thing that kept the TV on. So I'll give it that.
We had low expectations going in Shane.. maybe that made a difference?
