- I did not kiss a girl until I had graduated from high school. I was very shy.. I stuttered.. and embarrassed easily.. dating was a pretty terrifying thought back then.
- I washed my first load of laundry when I was almost 20. Yeah, I was a sheltered kid. Hardly ever ate out growing up and mainly stayed around the house.
- I smuggled bibles into China on a short term mission back in 1987.. you can read about it on my other blog.
- My favorite color is blue.. if you saw the theme on my laptop (and of course the jeans template here) you might understand.
- One of my greatest shortcomings is my fixation on the past.. it often short-circuits hope. I have to tell myself that things can (and probably will) be different.
- I bought my first house in New Jersey when I was 23.. have owned 4 others since then.. lived in my last house for 18 years.. so many great memories there.. the house my kids grew up in.
I think that I am supposed to tag six other people.. instead of hitting the usual suspects I think that I will tag: Shane, Brian, LTF, Bilbo, Pearlie and Wanda. Feel free to post your randomness here in the comments or on your blog.. be sure to tell me if you do.. but I won't pester you at your place if you don't :)
Thanks for doing this, Bob. These Meme's are always a fun way to learn a little more about people. I enjoyed yours!!

Hey Bob, just put my post up.
ReplyDeleteBob, I WISH my son was shy around girls! You bought a home at age 23!! Just three years after doing your first load of laundry! That's impressive.
ReplyDelete(my son does have the lack of laundry-doing thing in common with you so far)
Both of my kids started doing their own laundry when they were about 10 Barbara.. guess I didn't want them to be as helpless as I was :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm... This is tough!
ReplyDelete1.) I only moved once during the time I was in elementary, junior and high school but I attended 7 different schools. I literally have no contact with anyone I went to school with even though I only live 100 miles from my home town.
2.) I started doing laundry, cooking and cleaning when I was about 10 years old. I had to teach my wife how to cook and did 90% of the cooking for the first six years of our marriage.
3.) Being named Brian Smith, it was important to me to give my kids names that were not so common. When we named Kayla, neither my wife nor I had ever heard the name (we chose it from a book). Now, 11 years later, we cannot go anywhere without running into an eleven year old named Kayla. We have no idea how this happened.
4.) My favorite color is purple.
5.) I used to want to be a rock star. Now, my dream job is pro golfer.
6.) I hate these meme things. ;-)
Pro-golfer? Have you seen Tin Cup Brian? Never know where thoe dreams will take you?
ReplyDeleteThanks for meme-ing.. I'll try to remember your #6 the next time I get one of these things :)
Oh. I thought of a sixth thing.
ReplyDeleteMy great, great, great, great, great grandparents were both slave and master. I am a descendant of Thomas Jefferson. It was a weird feeling visiting Monticello last year and looking the slave quarters and the "big house" and knowing my ancestors lived in both, at the same time.
That one blew me away Brian! How did you discover that amazing ancestry?
ReplyDeleteBob ~~ I enjoyed reading your 6 random things, and also Brians.
ReplyDeleteHere are mine.
1. Flew in a 4 passenger Sesna plane from Peris Calif, to Portland Maine. What a flight and sight to behold at 10,000 feet.
2. In my 67 years, the only time I've been in the hospital was to have 4 children naturally, and my toncils out at 26!!
3. I think some tattoos are cool, but I don't have one.
4. I'm a redhead by birth, but the only place that freckles in the sun are my knees.
5. I make chocolate chip cookies at least once a week, usually twice.
6. I've taken off 10 pounds in the last six weeks, just eating healthy!!
Thanks Bob...not a very exciting life, but it my life and I love it.
Wanda :)
Chocolate chips and eating healthy.. hmmm.. those cookie must be for the grandkids Wanda :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting those 6 things.. and you proved braver than most of us guys by getting into one of those small planes :)
