Yes, that's right: those looking to catch a few hours of airplane shut eye will have to shell out $7 fee for a pillow and blanket kit from JetBlue, the first American carrier to charge for pillows.
For some reason, this doesn't bother me half as much as US Airways charging for water. They won't let you bring water on board, they give you extremely salty snacks to eat, the air is so dry that you're parched, and then they charge for water. Grrr.
Ouch! I was on United airlines this past week. The still had snacks, but they were tiny bags of stale pretzels. If you wanted more you could shell out $8 for a really crappy cold cut sandwich.
Also, I felt like we were sitting on each-others laps we were packed in so tight!
Interesting comments.. it seems that air travel is looking more like Greyhound Bus travel every day.. except you can't bring your own water on the bus :(
I'd rather fly a less expensive flight and NOT pay for the pillow I don't use, than to fly a more expensive one and pay for one. At least with JetBlue (and I've never flown them by the way) I would have the option. With the other airlines, you pay for it in your ticket price whether you use it or not.
Wow.
ReplyDeleteAnd my boss flies them cause they're the least expensive. HA!
