It's called Hacienda la Esmeralda Especial, or Esmeralda for short, and it wowed judges for the third year in a row at the 2007 Roasters Guild Cupping competition in Long Beach California, held by the Specialty Coffee Association of America last May.The coffee sold at an online auction for a record $130 a pound and goes for about twice that retail. I hear you can get a cup of it for about $8 a cup in New York and $15 in Vancouver ... don't think that I'll see it in Kansas any time soon ... but you never know?
