Where Do You Sit In Church?

This CartoonChurch.com cartoon originally appeared in the Church Times and is taken from ‘The Dave Walker Guide to the Church’, published by Canterbury Press.

Ann and I usually sit about 5 rows back with our small group. I wonder, could we be just trying to blend in as the cartoon says or is it something else :) Lately we have been sitting in the back due to our mobility issues. So where do you usually sit?

  1. In the sound booth I can see what ya'll are doing from up there and who's hair is thinning. It’s fun we live a different world up there.

  2. Up near the front, but not ,in front. Keen, but not too keen. Sometimes we sit in the nosebleeds if we get there late (we have balconies, which is cool. no making out allowed though).

  3. In the back when I can but usually on Sunday morning I sit on the front pew because I have to sit on the "stage" after the choir comes down. I normally hate that but it helps make more seating room in the pews and I've discovered it's fun to watch people sleep during the message.

  4. If I go, I sit in the middle of the left side?!?

  5. I gravitate to 2nd or 3rd row left, Mr. Right to 5th or 6th row right. So we almost always sit 4th row center!

  6. This drawing is different from the layout of our church; it's an old colonial church, so the pulpit is actually elevated directly above the altar. My family and I used to sit in the gallery upstairs, but have taken lately to sitting about six rows back on the far left -- directly behind George Washington's old pew. (For idea of layout, there is a row on left and right of church, and double rows joined in the center.
