I think reality ends up falling somewhere between these 2 pictures, both rather noble and idealistic, albeit coming from very different starting points. The reality is that we DO have fear, like Habakkuk did. We do wince and call aloud, like Jeremiah did. And head is not always humbly bowed under the rule of our enemies, any more than David's was. Christ is the Master of my Fate, but I find it to be a lot more bloody, gritty and painful than the 2nd poem.
Well, THAT's cool. I didn't know that there was an answer to "I am the Master of my Fate!"
